Ideas for quick and easy protein

My theory as to why some women do not eat enough protein is that it can be difficult to think of what to have and it often needs to be prepared. Here are some of my suggestions for quick, easy protein solutions:
- Boiled eggs. Boil up a lot of them at one go and keep them in the fridge. A quick breakfast or a handy snack. Or add to a salad.
- Eggwhite in a carton. You can whip up a great omelette by using eggwhite alone with whatever else you want or by mixing eggwhite to a couple of eggs.
- Peanut butter. Be careful with quantity. Have this on toast rather than jam. Add to smoothies. Have it with celery sticks or an apple.
- Greek yoghurt. As a snack with some berries. Add to oats. Add to smoothies. Instead of sour cream with savoury dishes.
- Deli meats. I know processed meats are not something to have a lot of – but a packet of slices of turkey is a very good thing to have as a snack or on a sandwich. It fills you up.
- Prawns. You can buy them peeled and fresh to have as a snack or with a salad or frozen to add to cooking. Prawns and zucchini stir fried with avocado on top is a quick meal.
- Barbeque chicken. Buy one and give someone else or the dog the skin and then you have chicken whenever you need.
- Poached chicken breast. Very easy to do (takes 15 minutes) and you have unprocessed chicken in the fridge for snacks, salads, sandwiches.
- Oats. Great for brekkie. Lots of great recipes for overnight oats. Also see recipes for baked oats.
- Quinoa. Make up a batch and keep for salads or sides.
- Meatballs. Make a bunch – great for snacks.
- Mince – cook up and add some flavour and keep a container in the fridge. Turkey mince is tasty.
- Protein balls. Choose a recipe that is low in sugar.
- Protein shake. Use protein powder and add whatever you like.
- Hommos. Make it yourself (very easy) or buy – good for dipping veggies.
- Cottage cheese. I love this with cinnamon on top to dip an apple in.
- Almonds. Be careful with quantity but these are a filling snack.
- Lentils – make dahl – a great thing to have in the fridge.
- Edamame – you can buy them frozen.
- Tuna – little cans of tuna with all sorts of things added.
- Salmon – little cans or smoked salmon.
