Exercise for well being
Some lucky people feel good during their exercise session. You can see it on their faces – they are loving that feeling of being pushed to do their best. They seem to be on a little mini “high”. Often with outdoor exercise it’s being outside with nature around you in the fresh air – free and not all hemmed in.
But not everyone can relate to this.
However, just about everyone I know feels good after they exercise. There is a satisfied, slightly tired happy feeling that comes immediately as you finish up. You are a little bit sweaty and flushed in the face. You are happy with yourself and you feel good. Many of the things you were stressing about before the workout have seemed to disappear or if not, do not seem as pressing. You have a feeling of being re-charged. Even if you were tired when you first fronted up somehow all that energetic moving around has given you a second wind.
There is also the feeling later in the day of general well being. Sometimes you consciously link it back to the fact that you exercised earlier in the day but often you don’t really think about why you are feeling so good.
Finally, there is the feeling you get over a number of weeks of being in control of things – the regular consistent training is like a metaphor for other areas of your life – a good pattern of behaviour. Your body feels better and your mind starts to feel clearer. You even sleep better. You make healthier choices about how to fuel your body. Basically you just feel better….
If you don’t believe me try it and see!
