What to expect from our Summer Challenge
Are you thinking of joining us on 16 October but feeling a bit apprehensive about what is involved?
No need to stress. We are going to start slowly and everything will be AT YOUR OWN PACE. Your commitment will be to train 3 times a week. We suggest you plan this at the start of each week – decide which sessions suit you and write them into your diary. They are non-negotiable. You can do whatever sessions you like and you can do different times each week if that is needed. We will also encourage you to aim for 10,000 steps a day during the 8 weeks as we have found in the past that this extra movement is very good for feelings of well being and it will help to lower cortisol levels.
We will test your fitness. The good thing about this is that at the end of the Challenge you will have results that you can see on paper. You will get fitter if you train 3 times a week for 8 weeks. You can also opt for measurements and before photos. This is also a good way to track your progess without the dreaded scale which may not show up changes in body composition which is what we are aiming for rather than weight loss. There is no need to be worried about fitness testing. It is just a benchmark and we know that your fitness will improve. We are not expecting you to be fit at the start.
We will focus on a different aspect of nutrition every week. This way you are not trying to do everything all at once. The idea is to take up or reinforce existing habits one at a time so that they stick. You will not be required to eat a special diet or prepare special meals but you might be inspired to make some changes and to try some new recipes. You might be inspired to prepare healthy meals on a Sunday for the week ahead but this is entirely optional.
The idea behind the Challenge is that you have 8 weeks to really see what works for you. You are super focussed on training and nutrition and hopefully some of the things you start to do will stick with you. We don’t want this 8 weeks to be strict and controlled – only to go crazy returning to “normal” at the end. We want you to find a new normal during this 8 weeks which is why we take a gradual approach.
If you have any questions please get in touch. I am more than happy to take you through what you can expect.
