Mirren does it again
Many of you will have already read about Mirren in a previous blog entry. Inspired by her success, Mirren decided to embark on another 7 week “fit and strong” program where she would pay attention to her nutrition and train consistently at least 3 times a week.
Mirren’s hard work (training outdoors at least 3 times a week together with swimming and yoga) paid off. Her running time improved by 13 seconds and her score on the burpee test also improved. Mirren also lost a further 8cms off her waist.
I love sharing success stories like this. Mirren did not have a personal chef. She did not have a night nanny to tend to her one year old child when she woke up at night (sometimes a lot!) or to mind her 3 children when her partner went away. Mirren did not have hours every day to work out or a degree in nutrition. What Mirren did have is determination and the willingness to work hard when she trained. She ate more protein, more fresh food and less sugar. If she did overindulge one day she was extra careful on the next day.
A couple of things happened towards the end of the program which highlight Mirren’s success. One of them was when I saw Mirren arriving at a training session. As she was approaching in the distance I heard one of the other girls say: ” Who is that coming? Is that Mirren? Nooo it’s not…oh hang on a minute – yes it is.” It was clear that they had been confused by Mirren’s new slimmer silhouette. Another highlight for me was seeing Mirren sprinting to the end of the oval run during fitness testing. No longer struggling just to keep running, but determined to beat her previous time…which she did.
If you want to get fit like Mirren join us in the park this term. You will be glad you did.
Here is a photo which shows how far Mirren has come since she started.
