Do you need a nutrition coach?
I have recently qualified as a Level 1 Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition. What exactly is a nutrition coach and why might you need me?
The best way of explaining it is to think about the role of a sports coach. The coach is someone who knows the game well. They are usually knowledgeable about all aspects of the game and can give the players guidance on the rules. A nutrition coach is someone who knows about nutrition and keeps themselves up to date with the latest information. These days there is a lot of information out there for everyone to access but a nutrition coach is able to offer you assistance to work out which bits of the information might apply to you.
The sports coach decides on a good strategy to achieve a win after assessing all of the team’s assets and limiting factors. A nutrition coach can make an assessment working with you and then help you decide on a plan, taking into account all of the positives and negatives as they might apply to you. The way that the plan will usually work when a nutrition coach uses the methods learned through Precision Nutrition is to work at one small manageable habit, to master that and then to work on another aspect. Progress might seem slow but you will find that you are making lasting changes which build on each other.
The sports coach makes it her business to make the players accountable. She sets them practice drills and anticipates that they will improve over time. A nutrition coach will keep you accountable too. You are more likely to stick to a new habit if you know someone will be asking you at the end of the week about your progress. If things don’t work your nutrition coach will help you work out why and what you might try instead.
The coach is someone the team members can go to whenever they want to discuss the game and their performance. A nutrition coach is someone who is available to you when you need to discuss all things nutrition.
Navigating the wealth of good information among all the dietary myths and misinformation can be confusing these days. Coming up with a plan that will work and is sustainable in the long term is also easier said than done. Making changes to the way you eat that will help you to achieve your goal is not easy on your own. Maybe you need a coach.
Ultimately it will be up to you – a coach will not be able to do things for you. But a coach can steer you in the right direction and hopefully keep you on track. A coach can help you to anticipate the factors that might get in your way and build on your strengths – the things you already do well.
I am passionate about helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. If you pick me as your coach I will be on your side, in your corner and doing everything I can do to help you whether you want to lose weight, just “feel better”, have more energy, gain muscle, perform better, keep your bones strong or your skin glowing. I am also someone you can trust not to be judgmental or critical. I will be there for you.
If you would like to chat to me about some nutrition coaching just reply to this email or send me a text or call on 0410 413 509.
